Privacy Policy

This page describes what information Failsafe Solutions collects when you use this website, how that information is used, and the choices available to you. It is written in plain English. If anything is unclear, please write to hello@failsafe-solutions.com.

This page describes our general practices. It is not legal advice and does not constitute a contract. The terms of any paid engagement are set out in a separate engagement letter signed by both parties before the work begins.

Who operates this website

This website is operated by Helen Moffatt, trading as Failsafe Solutions. Until a limited company is formed, the sole trader is the data controller for any personal information collected through this website. The registered office address will be added once a registered-office service is in place; it is not the home address and is not published on this site.

What information we collect

When you contact us. If you send us a message through the form on the Book a Review page, we collect the name, email, organisation, sector, and message text you provide, plus the technical metadata necessary to deliver the message to our mailbox.

When you browse. We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, configured cookieless under its standard settings. Plausible does not set cookies, does not record your IP address, does not transmit personal data, and does not build a profile of visitors across sites. We use it to understand which pages are useful and which are not. See our Cookies page for more detail.

Server logs. Cloudflare Pages, our hosting provider, retains limited server logs (request URL, response status, country-level IP location, timestamp). These are retained for 30 days for operational and security purposes only.

How we use information

We use the information you send us to respond to your enquiry, follow up where relevant, and keep a record of correspondence. We do not use it for marketing automation, profiling, or any automated decision-making. We do not sell or rent it.

Who we share information with

We share information with a small number of sub-processors — service providers that help us run this website and respond to enquiries. Each operates under a contract that limits how they may use the data:

• Cloudflare Pages — website hosting and content delivery.
• Microsoft 365 — incoming enquiry mailbox (bpr@ and hello@). Microsoft acts as a processor for messages we route through it.
• Plausible Analytics — privacy-friendly, cookieless website analytics.

We do not share your information with marketing platforms, advertising networks, or third-party sales tools.

Where information is held

Website content is served from Cloudflare's global edge network. Enquiry email arrives into a Microsoft 365 tenant hosted in the UK / EU. Plausible Analytics is hosted in the EU. We do not transfer personal data outside the UK / EEA in normal operation.

How long we keep it

Enquiry correspondence. We normally retain enquiry emails for up to 24 months. If a longer retention is appropriate — for example if your enquiry concerns an active or imminent engagement, or you ask us to keep the record — we will tell you before doing so. If we proceed to a paid engagement, retention is governed by the engagement letter (typically 6 years for tax and contractual records).

Server logs. Up to 30 days.

Your rights

Under UK data-protection law, you have the right to:

• ask what personal data we hold about you (subject access request);
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• have data erased in defined circumstances;
• restrict or object to processing;
• receive your data in a portable format;
• withdraw consent where consent is the basis of processing;
• lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
